Nach dem USA - Besuch und der Krönungsfeier in England verlässt Präsident Marcos erneut die Philippinen. Ist viel unterwegs, der Mann. Diesmal geht es nach Indonesion zum ASEAN Gipfel.

Marcos said his participation this year aims to promote the interests of the country towards economic growth, protect migrant workers in crisis situations, promote food and energy security, promote trade and investments.

Wichtiges Thema des ASEAN - Gipfels war die Gewalt in Myanmar.

"We were deeply concerned with ongoing violence in Myanmar and urged the immediate cessation of all forms of violence and the use of force to create a conducive environment for the safe and timely delivery of humanitarian assistance and inclusive national dialogues," ASEAN leaders said in a statement.

Sie hat aber ja eigentlich keine Funktion, oder? Sie macht Urlaub auf Staatskosten und kommt sich wichtig vor. Warum muss ich da sofort an Imelda Marcos denken? Aber die Pinoys sind halt Familienmenschen.
